What is the Wallace Bridge Equestrian Park?
Wallace Bridge will become an international equine center located on 600 + acres near the intersections of Highways 22 and 18. Wallace Bridge will be a state -of-the-art, Olympifc-style equestrian destinatin resort. It will operate year round and will provide multiple venues including Dressage, Hunter Jumper courses, Courses, Two Polo fields, Cross Country course, a race track, several out door arenas, indoor arenas, and a commons area with a distillery, bakery, local farmers market stand for locally grown agricultural products including meat, milk, cheese, wineres, etc.
Mr. Millegan States " I want Wallace Bridge to be for equestrian enthusiast what Bandon Dunes has meant to the golfing world."
The current location is uniquely suited. It is located between two major highways on land not classified as high value farm land. This is important because the land is too dry for cros but perfect for horses. The land adjoining Wallace Bridge to the east is perfect for Cross Country activities because: 1 it does not require the horese to cross either highway; (2) the terrain isdiverse; and (3) the land is used primarily for pasture and is void of christmas tree farms, vineyards and dense forests which would prevent cross country horseback riding activities.
The NRCS ( natural resourses conservation services), has been offered better land adjacent to the existing easement in exchange for upland area. A reputable firm specializing in native habitats to survey the existing easement and the adjcent lands. The Carex Working Group determined that the adjacet lands contained plant species, wetlands and riparian areas along a stream corridor that are much more diversified for habitat and better water quality, and better suited for the NRCS conservation easement than the upland portion within the existing easement that Wallace Bridge needs for the equine center.
